Goals 2000 supports State efforts to
develop clear and rigorous standards for what every child should know
and be able to do, and supports comprehensive State- and
district-wide planning and implementation of school improvement
efforts focused on improving student achievement to those standards.
Largely through State awards that are distributed on a competitive
basis to local school districts, Goals 2000 promotes education reform
in every State and thousands of districts and schools.
Wathena/Elwood Schools Goals:
Year 1:
Year 2: Our project goals are: 1) to create "classrooms
without walls" that will improve communications through the sharing
of information, 2) to insure that all staff have the training and
support they need to help all students utilize the computer and
internet to facilitate learning, and 3) to insure all students will
have training and support to utilize the computer and internet to
facilitate learning.
Year 3: For the third year extension, the model will
continue mentoring from our institutions of higher education and
nonprofit educational organizations, but this year we will add peer
coaching between Elwood and Wathena classroom. This peer coaching
will be conducted via the internet with a "I see you; you see me"
electronic program used with internet to allow classrooms to visual
share the problem solving/inquiry process.
