Communication Critter
Communication Critter
A Community Interest Project
Ellen Wearing- June 2000

Invitation

Students are always interested in communicating with other students that are close to their age. Using a collaborative project from an Internet site will help my students view the world outside of our own community.

Situation

This unit will be covered in our own classroom. We will use our classroom computer to send emails to our host class. We will use a digital camera to help us record the activities in our room for our host class.

Tasks

1. Students will receive a stuffed teddy bear through a project called "Traveling Teddy".
2. The Students will take care of the guest for a week and will log and prepare a
scrapbook page to be returned to the host class in Ontario, California.
3. The students will email the host class to report on the activities in our classroom
during the week and on the well being of our guest teddy.

Interactions

The class will be completing this unit as a class group. I will put the students in small groups to respond through email to our host class.
