Library Media Skills Objectives:
The student will research invertebrates by using print and
nonprint sources.
The student will learn multitasking by copying pictures from the
Internet and placing them into a word-processing document.
The student will create a fact sheet with a picture.
The student will give an oral presentation about the fact sheet.
Procedure: The teacher introduces invertebrates in the
classroom. The library media specialist teaches the class how to
multitask by using the Internet and software. The library media
specialist and teacher help students use print and nonprint resources
to find information and pictures for the fact sheet, during three 35
minute class periods in the library center.
The students will search the Internet for five facts and one picture.
Students will "copy" pictures from the Internet site into a
word-processing document and type the five facts they find about
their invertebrate. (Copywrite rules will be taught prior to this
project.) When the fact sheets are finished, students will present
them to the class.
Evaluation: The students' work will be evaluated by both the
teacher and librarian for accuracy and amount of information given.
The librarian will evaluate the students for following directions for
multitasking, care of computers and other media, cooperation and
completion of work.
Resources:
Students will use both print and non-print sources available from
the library as well as
appropriate Internet sites that have been previously bookmarked.
